How To Become A More Productive Person – 7 Tips

Walt Disney was quoted to say, “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing”.

I have my productive moments and I have some rather less productive moments. When I’m on a roll, I get through work like there’s no tomorrow.

But realistically this isn’t an everyday scenario; even the most successful people need organisation and routine to keep them in check. How to become a more productive person, look at my top 10 list.

1.Clean Your Space

Organizing your space (room, office, etc) will create a better atmosphere for productivity. So hang up your clothes, throw away trash, and tidy up.

But did you know that clutter and materialism can lead to stress and anxiety? We love to accumulate things, and the more stuff we have, the more anxious, depressed and joyless we feel.

A great way to begin de-cluttering is to clear out your wardrobes and cupboards and place things you don’t use in some large storage boxes. Come the end of the month, any items you haven’t used can be donated to charity.  This will help to clean up your space fast.

2.Get Energizedenergy-money-success

The more energised you are then the more productive you will be. Surround yourself with things that get your creative juices flowing:

  • Turn on some music
  • Put up some pictures
  • Color coordinate your pens
  • Rest your brain and have a 5 minute meditation
  • Be grateful for all the things you have in your life
  • Watch a funny movie
  • Go for a long scenic walk
  • Exercise

3.Buy a Planner

This will ensure that you have all your appointments, assignments and other important information in one place is a surefire way to stay on top of your day-to-day routine.

4.Make a Daily to do List

By making a to do list on a daily basis forces you to focus on the tasks ahead.  Projects and plans get broken down into bite size chunks that are doable.

A to do list not only creates order but also gives you a strategy for getting things done. The act of writing it down in itself holds you accountable to get it done.

Once you written it down, you have given it life and now are creating a plan to accomplish the goals you would like to see completed.  You are now accountable to you.

Finally, it is a great feeling to cross items off your list. This gives you back control. It also gives you a positive productive feeling and this alone is worth keeping lists for.

5.Write a Stop Doing List.

Every productive person obsessively sets To Do Lists to which I agree. But those who play at world-class also record what they commit to stop doing. Steve Jobs said that what made Apple Apple was not so much what they chose to build but all the projects they chose to ignore.

Together with a To Do list each day also write what you are Not Going to Do.

6.Drink Plenty of Waterwater-drink-more

Water is so beneficial, so easy, so free yet so easily overlooked. It’s really a no brainer (actually your brain is 90% water!!!).

Your body is about 70% water, the majority of your blood and every cell in your body is composed of water.

Benefits are:

  • It boosts your metabolism
  • It boosts productivity
  • Good for the immune system
  • Drinking water can help you lose weight
  • Water can prevent headaches
  • Flushes out toxins from the kidneys
  • Your skin will look better

There are so many drinking water benefits that it’s impossible to list in just one post.  Give it a try and drink lots more water each day.

7.Have Goals

To become a more productive person, you need to have goals to aim for.  Remember that big, brave goals release energy.

So set them clearly and then revisit them every morning for 5 minutes.  Setting goals can help to release your creative energies so you can focus on how to achieve them. You’ll start to look for ways to make it happen.

Every goal should be concrete and specific. It is very important to identify what you are striving for and commit yourself whole-heartedly towards achieving it.

Nobody believes your excuses except for you.
